Original Items: Only One Set Available. Naval and Marine Corps aviators during WW2 were issued the classic M380B sheepskin leather flight boots for wear in cold weather. This pair of US Navy and Marine Corps WWII pilot M380B Shearling winter flying boots are in good condition with minor cracking in the leather and soles. The wool sheepskin is in excellent condition, all lace eyelets on the back are present with original laces, the front has the original leather strips and buttons on the functional zippers. They are a size medium and each has a classic "BOOTS-FLIGHT / BuAero-Navy / M380B / HOOD" nomenclature label on each tongue. They boast thick, warm sheepskin fleece interiors, sport ridged black rubber soles, and feature the original brown cotton laces down the upper backs. A very nice used pair of hard to find functional flying boots from World War Two. This pair would warm up any cold weather collection!
From the earliest days of flight, the aviator has needed some form of personal protection against the elements. The earliest form was a good tweed jacket, a hat and a pair of goggles; as the technology of aviation developed - flying faster, higher and longer - better and differing levels of protection was required.
Conflict invariably brings rapid technological development and during the two World Wars, and the lingering Cold War, development of aircraft required complementary development of protective flying clothing was vital to the war effort.
